Younger kids in the family or the senior citizens are the most likely to be suggested to eat khichdi if they not feel well during the day. Even doctors suggest the same because of the nutrition value of this dish. Today, I’m going to discuss how we make this khichdi along with green chutney.

So, how do we prepare it all? Let’s have a look below.

How to make it?

Take a pan and add 1 tablespoon butter, ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon asafoetida, 1 tablespoon chopped garlic (optional), 2 dried red chillies, 1 tablespoon red chili powder and mix it all nicely as you fry/cook them in the pan.

Next, add 1 cup of boiled split pigeon peas (tuar dal) to the pan and mix it with the ingredients as you cook it for a few more minutes. Now, sprinkle some coriander on it and mix it. Add some salt according to your preferred taste and finally add 1 cup of steamed rice to the pan.

Cook this whole thing for a few more minutes and then add some butter to it for extra deliciousness. A pinch of garam masala to spice things up a bit and you’re good to go.

Your healthy and tasty dal khichdi is ready.

Now, let’s look at how to make the green chutney.

For green chutney, you need 1½ cup of chopped coriander, 4-5 chopped green chilies, 2 inch chopped ginger, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black salt and 1 tablespoon sev (that is one twist which is not included in a regular green chutney recipe). Put it all one by one in a grinding pot along with some water and grind it.

After that, add some lemon juice to it (1lemon) for extra flavorful taste and rich green color of the chutney.

The green chutney is also ready!

Serve it with the khichdi and enjoy the taste of healthiness in your meal.

Happy Cooking!
