Main Ingredients:
For khichdi
- Sabudana (sago, small size) 1 Cup
- Butter 2tbsp
- 2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Curry leaves
- Chopped green chillies
- Diced potatoes
- Roasted cumin powder
- Black pepper
- Coriander
- Lemon juice
- Sugar
For Lassi
- 1 glass curd
- 10-15 nicely cut pistachio
- 10-15 almonds
- 10-15 cashew nuts
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- saffron.
- 1 glass of water
- sugar according to taste
- 1 teaspoon white butter.
Indian women and their fasts are a never-ending story. Our culture is like that, we have so many festivals and other occasions where a woman should practice fasting.
Not to forget, fasting occasionally is good for health too! But doing it too much and that to when your body doesn’t support it much, is harmful. Keeping things in control is necessary whether it is eating or fasting.
So, considering the fact that there are numerous events when we have to fast for the whole day, we have some dishes that supports or in a way take care of our body during such days.
One such dish is our very own sabudana khichdi. Sabudana Khichdi won’t take long hours to prepare, and it is nutritious as well. It will keep you up all a day and you won’t feel the need to eat anything more during the day.
It has got some very basic ingredients that are commonly found in every household, so you don’t have to spend massive amount on ingredients too.
Here’s how to prepare sabudana khichdi.
Note: I have used small size sago or sabudana for this recipe.
Now the process
Take one small bowl of sabudana and pour one bowl water to it.
Now, in a pan, put 2 tablespoon butter, 2 teaspoon cumin seeds, some curry leaves, chopped green chillies, diced potatoes and cook it all for some time. It will take a while to finish.
Some basic cooking with some very basic ingredients and that’s it for you
Next, in 1 cup of soaked sabudana, add salt according to your taste, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder and mix it all nicely. Sprinkle some coriander on it and add some lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sugar and again mix it. Now, shift all this to the pan and cook it for a few minutes as you keep stirring it all in the pan.
After a few minutes of cooking, it will be ready to serve.

Here’s a quick and short procedure to make dry fruit lassi
In a blender jar, take one glass of curd, add 10-15 nicely cut pistachio, 10-15 almonds, 10-15 cashew nuts and 1 teaspoon cardamom powder and saffron. Finally, add one glass of water, sugar according to taste and 1 teaspoon white butter. Blend it all at high speed and your favorite dry fruits lassi is ready!
Add some ice cubes to the glass and pour the lassi to it and serve it…
