Chilli paneer is mostly prepared dry or semi-dry. However, there are ways and recipes to make chilli paneer with gravy too. You can have it as a starter as well as an accompaniment to one of the main course dishes.
Chilli paneer goes amazingly well with fried rice or even noodles. It’s all up to you how you want to have it. However, in my opinion, the dry version of chilli paneer is best for starters and the one with gravy can be served as an accompaniment to fried rice or noodles.
You need to have some basic cooking skills to prepare this dish. Let’s get to the steps to make it.
Step 1 – Take a bowl and put around 400g of paneer in it, then add 1 tablespoon of corn flour, a pinch of salt as per your taste or preference and sprinkle some black pepper powder on it.
Now, add ½ teaspoon red chilli powder and white pepper powder (optional). Toss it all in the bowl for a couple of times so that everything mixes nicely.
Step 1 – Next, in a pan, keep some oil and heat it for some time, and then put the paneer cubes in the pan. Fry the paneer until its color changes to golden.
Step 3 – In the next step, take a wok and firstly add 2 tablespoon of oil in it.
Put 8-10 finely chopped garlic cloves, green chillies and dried red chillies. Sauté the whole thing in the pan and continue the process till the color changes to brown.
Now, add 3 medium sized onions in it. Add red bell pepper, capsicum, yellow bell pepper along with salt for taste, black pepper powder and white pepper powder for extra flavor.
Mix and cook it for some time and then add one teaspoon of vinegar, 2 teaspoons dark soya sauce, 2 teaspoons of red chilli sauce, 2 teaspoons of tomato ketchup and 2 teaspoons of chilli garlic paste.
Mix and fry everything for some more minutes and let it cook properly. Add a bit of water to it.
Step #4 – Now, at this step, if you want to make chilli paneer with extra gravy, then here you can add some more water, corn flour and paneer to it as to make it chilli paneer with a good amount of gravy.
The scrumptious chilli paneer is ready!
